USA Technologies Expanding ePort Connect Cashless Payment Service into Canada
MALVERN, Pa., Feb 09, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- USA Technologies (NASDAQ:USAT) announced today it had launched a major expansion program in Canada of its ePort(R) and ePort Connect(TM) Service, with an initial 1,000 connections already completed.
Three globally recognized companies are planning to have a total of 5,000 new ePort locations activated in Canada by the end of 2009.
USA Technologies' customers are installing the ePort system in beverage vending machines, coffee brewing machines, and desktop touch screen entertainment systems, enabling them to accept credit and debit cards for payment for the first time, as well as to monitor the performance of these locations via the USALive(R) reporting capability included with the ePort Connect Service.
"We are expanding quickly into the Canadian marketplace on the heels of success in the U.S. market with several of our customers, all of whom have an international presence, and wish to leverage ePort products and services outside the U.S.," said Stephen P. A major bottling company was first to launch cashless vending in Canada utilizing USA Technologies ePort Connect Service, and is planning an initial rollout of 2,000 connections through 2009.
USA Technologies is also working with a coffee company to expand its coffee service in Canada with ePort and the ePort Connect Service.
In addition, Merit Industries is installing ePort software in thousands of its new Megatouch Touchscreen Entertainment Systems in Canada over the next three years. Merit, a leader in countertop entertainment systems for 30 years, selected the ePort software and ePort Connect Service for its proven consumer convenience and performance. Merit manufactures 10,000 countertop entertainment systems a year, and has over 250,000 locations worldwide.
To help support its ePort Connect Service, USA Technologies has teamed with Rogers Wireless Communications, one of the biggest wireless operators in Canada, to ensure the most efficient and secure ePort cashless card payment solution possible. USA has also partnered with an additional credit card processor to support these customers.
USA Technologies is in discussions with several existing customers and partners to deliver ePort services in Canada, and in other markets internationally. These customers have a global presence, and have plans to leverage ePort products and services in vending, laundry, transportation, and kiosks outside North America.
