USA Technologies' EnergyMiser® Deployed on the Nation's Largest Army Base to Save Electricity and Cost
MALVERN, Pa, August 24, 2006 -- USA Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: USAT) EnergyMiser? energy management technology is being installed at Fort Hood Army Garrison, Fort Hood, Texas, the largest military base in America.
Fort Hood is leading by example in energy conservation, by installing VendingMisers® on 600 vending machines located across the base, which houses a mix of military and civilian personnel.
USA Technologies estimates Fort Hood will immediately begin to save an additional $100,000 a year in energy costs. Earlier, Fort Hood had already installed approximately 100 VendingMisers, saving an estimated $15,000 a year.
"Apparently, Fort Hood was delighted with the energy savings from the first 100 VendingMiser devices, and after validating that the Misers were reducing energy consumption, it was decided to convert the remainder of the post," said John Reasoner, Federal Government Account Manager, Johnson Controls Inc., the company installing the Misers. "Like other U.S. military bases, Fort Hood is doing what it can to lower the drain on the nation's energy grid by responding to the President's call to conserve, and install energy conservation technology."

Other U.S. Military EnergyMiser installs recently completed and underway include the Adjunct General's Department, Texas, the Texas Air National Guard, Burnsville Air Force Base, the GSA Services Center, Tampa, the U.S. Naval Academy, the Naval Exchange Service, and the Naval Base Coronado and San Clement Island base, California.
USA Technologies acknowledges the U.S. Military as one of its most prolific energy conservation customers with installs underway on bases throughout America and the Pacific, including Hawaii, Japan and Okinawa.
America's military bases are installing USA Technologies full range of VendingMisers, CoolerMisers and SnackMisers, which reduce energy consumption by up to 45 percent. Vending machines and coolers cost an estimated $300-$400 a year to operate. With the addition of EnergyMiser products it is expected that the U.S. Military could save U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars in electricity costs.
